Biography

Babis Alexiadis, an animation and media artist, works with a variety of techniques and processes to create animations, film, commissioned projects, and video art productions. Alexiadis is particularly interested in producing animation and film projects for interdisciplinary platforms such as site specific projects, theatre productions, art installations. His work features predominantly drawings, collage and found objects with limited use of digital input.
He had his first solo exhibition, ‘Inner Dialogues’, in 2006 and since then has gone on to work with organisations such as the English Touring Opera, Opera North, BBC Big Screen West Midlands, and Midlands Arts Centre, and participated in the award-winning theatre production 'For The Best' in collaboration with artist Mark Storor (2009). Alexiadis was the artistic director of "The River Project" (August 2010) a live dance performance that involved film, animation, and 185 member of the public.
In 2008 his work ‘The House on the Moon’ was nominated for a Royal Television Society award. He received the first place award at the Platforma Video7 film festival, Athens in partnership with BSB fashion retail brand in February 2008, and a Public’s Choice Award for animation at the Micropolis International Film Festival.
